This longer screw is necessary to attach generic presser feet to Pfaff models in categories J & L made by Viking. It can be fastened by hand or by screwdriver making changing all presser feet much easier.

- To use generic snap on feet on ALL above models, you will need the Pfaff generic snap on shank noted and sold at the bottom of the page of each of these feet. i stole this description from the colorful world of sewing
-Models 1229, 1222, 1221, 1217, 1216, 1215, 1214, 1213, 1212, 1211, 1209, 1199, 1197 & 1196 are all high shank. Models that came with Pfaff's high snap on shank can use Pfaff style snap on presser feet. There is no longer any adapter to allow the use of Pfaff snap on feet. Generic snap on and generic low shank feet cannot be used on these models.
