“HOSHI SENSU” translates to “Star Fan” in English and that is what each block depicts, a group of five Oriental fans arranged in a star pattern. The fan appliques are heavily embroidered with gold metallic threads and the embroidered “tassels” are accented with coordinating rayon embroidery threads. The borders are again embroidered with gold metallic thread and metallic Mylar “sliver” thread is used to accent and quilt the piece together. Over 16 hours of labor have gone into the making of this quilt. HOSHI SENSU adds color and a touch of the Orient to any room you display it in. It has a sleeve on the back to easily slip a rod through to hang on the wall. Due to the heavily embroidered nature of this quilt, it is best used as a wall hanging, it should not in any way be laundered.
The top fabrics are 100% cotton, and the backing is 100% cotton/polyester with a thin polyester batting. Measures approximately 48 inches by 48 inches. Keep in mind this quilt will be folded up in shipping, so it will arrive with some wrinkles and folds. A light press with plenty of steam from an iron or a professional steamer will relax the wrinkles and allow it to hang flat and look its best.
